Clean clothes can be turned into a waxy mess by dripping wax. To get candle wax out of clothes, here’s a process that’s short, simple and reliable.
Step 1 – Allow It to Get Dried
It’s best to deal with most stains as quickly as possible. Normally, removing chemicals until they get an opportunity to soak through the material makes stain removal much smoother but not with candle wax.
Allow the wax to dry completely before attempting to remove it from your clothing.
Allowing the wax to dry before attempting to clean it will help you learn how to get wax out of clothes properly. Enable it to dry naturally or put a few ice cubes on it to hasten the process.
Step 2 – Get Rid of It
Strip most of the wax after it has melted, gently wiping it away from the body to prevent injuries. Remove the wax’s top layers, leaving just the portion that has fallen into the cloth.
A sharper tool, such as a decent knife is certainly preferable. One misstep may result in a hole in fragile fabrics. Use a spoon to carefully skim over the top of something delicate such as velvet, rather than pressing deep.
Step 3 – Steam It
All that’s left now is the wax that’s stuck to the clothing’s fibres. The key is to gently heat the wax and allow it to drip into something else, like blotting paper.
A paper towel may also be used, but it’s best to stop it when working with fluffy materials like fleece, linen, or silk so you don’t want any tissue bits caught in the fibres.
Over and under the waxy residue, insert paper towels or blotting paper, then cover with a thin towel and iron through it.
The sun will dissolve the wax, while the absorbent paper will draw any remaining stain to it.
Step 4 – Remove the Color
If the cloth and wax are of similar colour, you should be able to skip this stage without impacting the final result. Though the wax should be almost gone by now, the dye will still be visible; what you need is a decent pre-wash stain removal treatment to get rid of it.
Step 5 – Rinse It Normally
To finish the cleaning process and remove any residual wax or dye from your clothing, all you need is a short washing machine cycle.
Before you leave it to dry, inspect the fabric as it comes out of the machine to make sure the stain is gone.
