You don’t have to throw out a good piece of clothes because color has bled into it. While some ink stains will not wash off, you will save your favorite clothes by using rubbing alcohol, a paint drip remover, or bleach. There’s still a possibility your clothes will be saved if you try this method-
Method – Rubbing Alcohol for Cleaning
Step 1 – Get a bottle of rubbing alcohol
Isopropyl alcohol can be found in every pharmacy or general store’s medicinal department. It works on all types of fabrics, including those that aren’t colourfast and bleed a lot in the wash. Colourfastness can be checked by brushing a portion of the garment with water and rubbing a white towel against it.
A dye stain may also be treated with high-alcohol products like hair spray or hand sanitizer. For leatherwear, use saddle soap.
Step 2 – Using a cotton swab
Dab the alcohol onto the dye stain. You’ll need an absorbent material like an old rag, a paper towel, or a cotton ball. Dab it onto the dye after lightly moistening it with the rubbing alcohol. The dye would eventually disperse to the absorbent substrate. Several applications of rubbing alcohol are used to remove the stain.
Step 3 – Laundry detergent should be used to cover the dye
Pour a little detergent on the rubbing alcohol-streaked clothes. Add a small volume of laundry detergent to the dyed spot until it is thinly coated.
Step 4 – Scrub the area gently with a toothbrush
To stop scratching the cloth, be gentle. An old toothbrush is ideal, but if you don’t have one, your finger would suffice. Work the detergent into the dyed fibres by spreading it across the dyed region.
Step 5 – Hot water can be used to rinse the clothes
To clear the rubbing alcohol and detergent, wash the clothes in clean 90°F (32°C) water. This also removes any pigment that was absorbed by the rubbing alcohol.
Step 6 – Clean the clothes
Transfer the clothes to your laundry machine and wash them as normal. Since the stain has been washed, the fabric should be dried. If rubbing alcohol remedies don’t succeed, you’ll need to resort to more drastic methods, such as bleach.
